Why The NRDC?

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization founded in 1970. With a team of scientists, lawyers, and policy experts, NRDC works to safeguard the earth—its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.

Their work focuses on:

  • Fighting climate change

  • Protecting endangered species and wildlife habitats

  • Ensuring clean air and water

  • Advocating for sustainable energy and environmental justice

The NRDC combines grassroots activism with litigation and policy work, influencing environmental legislation and holding polluters and governments accountable in the U.S. and around the world.

Why Give to the NRDC?

  1. Proven Impact
NRDC has a track record of real wins—helping to pass landmark environmental laws, defending the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and stopping harmful projects like the Keystone XL pipeline.

  2. Science + Advocacy
Their work is grounded in cutting-edge science and legal expertise, giving them the tools to challenge powerful interests and back up their claims with evidence.

  3. Defending Communities
NRDC prioritizes environmental justice, working with frontline communities disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change.

  4. Global and Local Reach
Whether it’s preserving public lands in the U.S. or advocating for international climate agreements, NRDC’s work spans from local ecosystems to global policy arenas.
